10/28/22 - RFA A404 – Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program

The North Carolina Division of Public Health, Women, Infant, and Community Wellness Section has released RFA A404 – Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program.

Eligibility:  Public or private non-profit agencies interested in reducing teen pregnancy in North Carolina are eligible to apply. For-profit agencies need not apply. Potential applicants should consider whether their agency has the capacity to administer the state grant funds if awarded. Recipients of state funds are expected to have established in writing certain general agency policies including personnel and financial accounting policies. Funds to grantees will be dispersed on a cost reimbursement basis only and agencies should carefully consider if they have the capacity to implement the program under this system.

Applications are desired from counties ranking in the top quartile (i.e., the top 25) for fertility rates among females aged 15 to 19 based on a five-year average between 2016-2020 (referred to as “priority counties”). The priority counties are as follows:  Anson, Ashe, Bertie, Cherokee, Cleveland, Columbus, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Halifax, Lenoir, Madison, Martin, Montgomery, Onslow, Person, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland, Swain, Vance, Wayne, Wilkes, and Yadkin. Applicants in these counties shall receive a demonstrated need score as described in the RFA.

How to Apply: The RFA will be posted on the Program’s website www.teenpregnancy.ncdhhs.gov/funding.htm on September 28, 2022.

A representative of the applicant agency is encouraged to participate in a technical assistance webinar, which will be held on October 5, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at https://www.zoomgov.com/meeting/register/vJItfuCpqjMsGeKHCaNhtW5uhT3I56LpdPA.

10/28/22 - RFA A405 – PREPare for Success

The North Carolina Division of Public Health, Women, Infant, and Community Wellness Section has released RFA A405 – PREPare for Success.

Eligibility:  Public or private non-profit agencies (e.g., schools, colleges/universities, local health departments, non-profit community-based organizations) may receive funding to replicate at least one (1) evidenced-based program model through this Request for Applications. For-profit agencies need not apply.  If the applicant agency currently receives Primary Prevention funding for teen pregnancy prevention through NC Department of Health and Human Services, the agency may not apply to implement an additional primary pregnancy prevention program in the same county they currently serve.

Applications will only be accepted from counties ranking in the top 50 for birth rates among females aged 15 to 19 based on a five-year average between 2016-2020. The counties are as follows: Alexander, Anson, Ashe, Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Brunswick, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Cleveland, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Davidson, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gaston, Greene, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Lenoir, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, Martin, McDowell, Montgomery, Nash, Onslow, Pasquotank, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson, Rockingham, Rowan, Rutherford, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Surry, Swain, Vance, Wayne, Wilkes, Wilson, and Yadkin.

Potential applicants should consider their community’s readiness to support teen pregnancy prevention efforts, and their agency’s organizational capacity to administer the state grant funds if awarded. Recipients of state funds are expected to have established in writing certain general agency policies including personnel and financial accounting policies. Applicants that have not previously received or successfully administered state funds should consult a PREP staff member to determine if their agency has the internal policies and procedures in place to administer a state grant at this time. Funds to grantees will be dispersed on a cost reimbursement basis only, and agencies should carefully consider if they have the capacity to implement the program under this system.

How to Apply:  The RFA will be posted on the Program’s website www.teenpregnancy.ncdhhs.gov/funding.htm on September 28, 2022.
